Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Over the past few years, I have intermittently used glasses. However, I have not consistently worn them due to discomfort, especially since I have a prescription of -6.5 for my right eye and -2.25 for my left. As I have mentioned earlier, wearing spectacles causes me discomfort. I suspect that my left eye may be farsighted. Upon researching online, I came across symptoms such as blurred vision on one side, issues with binocular vision, and challenges with oncoming vehicle lights at night. During my ninth standard, I tried a treatment involving patching for my weaker eye to enhance vision. However, after switching doctors, the recommendation was for lenses with a negative power for both eyes. Given this information, what would you suggest I do next?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I do understand your concern.
As you mentioned, the patching treatment was intended to address the lazy eye with a stronger prescription. Typically, such interventions prove most effective when administered before the age of 10. At present, it seems essential for you to consistently wear either glasses or contact lenses. A re-examination is warranted to determine the appropriate course of action. Ideally, there should be a difference of no more than -3 between the prescriptions of both eyes to minimize discomfort. Additionally, I recommend using lubricating eye drops regularly to alleviate any dryness or discomfort.
If you have any clarifications, doubts, additional questions, or follow-up inquiries, please feel free to ask again at the icliniq website.
Thank you.
