Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My son is 2.5 years old. I want to wean him off the breastfeeding. I want to understand a few things. Is this the right time to wean him? Should we opt for packed milk or farm milk? Is the farm milk safe enough for children? If we get the packed one, does it have preservatives? Also, should we get the skimmed one, the full-fat, the single-toned, or the double-toned one? Which one provides the most nutrition? Kindly give me some advice.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query.
Deciding when to wean your child off breastfeeding is a personal choice, but around 2.5 years old is a common time. As for milk options, both packed and farm milk can be safe for children if properly handled and pasteurized. Packed milk generally undergoes pasteurization, and may not have preservatives. But, it is always good to check the label. When choosing between skimmed, full-fat, single-toned, or double-toned milk, full-fat milk is usually recommended for toddlers as it provides essential nutrients for their growth and development.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
