Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from PCOD And hypothyroidism. I am getting spots during my periods continuously. What should I do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

Spots or acne can occur due to various factors like hormonal imbalances, stress, or lifestyle habits like diet and skincare routines. Here are some steps you can take.

1) Consult with your gynecologist: Your gynecologist may be able to provide recommendations for managing your PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) and hypothyroidism, which could help alleviate acne. They may also recommend adjustments to your medication or suggest alternative treatments.

2) Skincare routine: Consider adopting a gentle skincare routine that includes cleansing twice daily, using a non-comedogenic moisturizer, and avoiding harsh or irritating products. You may also want to consider using a spot treatment containing Salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide to target active acne.

3) Diet: Consider making dietary changes to help manage acne.

4) Stress management: Consider adopting stress-management techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises to help manage stress levels.

5) Lifestyle changes: Consider making lifestyle changes like getting enough sleep, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding harsh skincare products that could irritate your skin.

Remember, consistency is key when it comes to treating acne, so be patient and stick with your treatment plan. If your acne persists or worsens, it may be helpful to consult with a dermatologist for personalized recommendations.

I hope you find this helpful.

Thanks and regards.
