Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My period is 24 days late. I am married but not pregnant yet, and the test results are negative. I have been experiencing tenderness in my breasts, lower back pain, and cramps for the last four days, but nothing has come out so far. My period is irregular, and I do not use any medications. I have no health conditions. What is my problem?

Kindly help.

Hello,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I can understand your concern.

There are quite several things that can cause a delayed period, including anovulation (not ovulating). However, if your pregnancy test was negative a week ago, you are not pregnant (as most pregnancy test kits are accurate from five weeks). So, I will advise you to do an ultrasound scan first. If your ultrasound scan is normal, you are most likely having an anovulatory cycle and would need to induce or trigger your period to start by taking Primolut N (Norethisterone). Afterward, investigating what is causing you to have anovulatory cycles would be necessary.

You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.

Thank you for consulting me.

Investigations to be done

The investigation to be performed is a transvaginal ultrasound scan.

Regarding follow up

Let me know when you have the ultrasound result.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
