Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am experiencing significant hair loss beyond the normal range of 50 to 100 strands per day. I am taking Isotretinoin 10 mg and addressing mild dandruff with a two-percent Ketoconazole anti-dandruff shampoo. Please help.
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Your condition appears to be stress-induced telogen effluvium, a type of hair loss resulting from significant stress on the body. To address this issue, I suggest the following.
Minimizing stress as it significantly contributes to hair fall.
Enhance your protein intake, vital in promoting hair growth and controlling hair loss.
Avoid tight ponytails and prolonged hot showers; choose cold or lukewarm water. Steer clear of harsh shampoos with chemical additives.
Choose mild shampoos like Xgain shampoo (sodium lauryl ether sulfate, purified water, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocodimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolyzed wheat protein, almond oil, soy protein, jojoba oil, wheat germ oil, vitamin E, Methylparaben, fragrance), using it twice weekly for a few weeks.
For dandruff concerns, I suggest using anti-dandruff shampoos such as Scalpe Plus (2 percent Ketoconazole and 1 percent Zinc Pyrithione) twice weekly for four weeks.
Refrain from applying oil, as it can serve as a food source for dandruff.
Consult your doctor and take the medicines.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert in case of any further queries so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
