Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I underwent an HSV test, which only included the IGG. Should I also consider an IGM test, and what distinguishes the two? My IGG results indicate positivity for HSV-1. What does this signify? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I suggest you proceed with the test as it serves as the first line of defense against pathogens like bacteria or viruses. It differs from IGG (immunoglobulin G), produced in response to prolonged exposure to harmful pathogens. The positive HSV (herpes simplex virus) result for IGG is important in case HSV-1 (herpes simplex virus-1) becomes chronic, offering protection against the virus.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
