Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My laboratory test results are eGFR 52, MAC/creatinine ratio 33, phosphorus 4.7, BUN 24, BUN creatinine 27, and creatinine 1.1. I am a 43-year-old female recently diagnosed with lupus, do these laboratory tests indicate possible kidney disease, and if so what is the standard treatment?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
Thank you for your query.
Your kidney function seems right. Not necessarily all lupus will affect kidneys. The perfect test anyway to know if your kidneys are right is doing a kidney biopsy. But it is invasive. Do a urine microalbumin and urine protein creatinine ratio to know if you have any protein leak in your urine. Kindly revert with the results. Also simultaneously do an ultrasound abdomen, for the time being, these are enough. Please share your old reports of ANA (antinuclear antibody).
I hope this helps. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My micro albumin came back at 33.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
It is still a bit high. Can you tell me what medicines you are taking right now? And since the renal function is normal I would suggest you wait for three months to repeat these tests. The best suggestion will be if the urine protein creatinine ratio is above 1.5. But for now, I think you are safe. Anyways do the remaining tests I mentioned and also send me your medication list.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
