Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is halting and resumption of breathing during sleep. It can occur due to different reasons. In obstructive sleep apnea, there is a blockage in the airway, which causes an intermittent stoppage of breathing. It is caused by intermittent relaxation of throat muscles, leading to loud snoring, headaches, daytime sleepiness, gasping for air, etc. Continuous positive airway pressure is the best treatment modality for it.
