Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have itching in my penis. The itching is not intense but mild, it feels inside the penile hole not outside. I had unprotected sex recently. That is what makes me concerned about it. Otherwise, I do not have any other problems around my genital area, everything seems and feels normal. Is it something concerning? Is it because of fungi or any virus? What should I do about it?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern. Please share a picture of the affected area. if there was unprotected sex one needs to think of sexually transmitted infection. I suggest you to get the following tests done.

  1. TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination).

  2. Human papillomavirus (HPV) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

  3. HSV (herpes simplex virus) one and two IgG.

  4. HSV (herpes simplex virus) one and two IgM.

  5. HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen).

  6. Complete urine.

It can be a simple bacterial infection, you can use ointment T bact (antibacterial) for local application and Doxy (Doxycycline) 100 mg twice a day for 5 days. If there is itching you need to think of fungal infection. Apply ointment candid B (antifungal) for local application while itching. Make sure you wash your genitalia twice a day morning and night, use normal water, neither cold nor hot. Do not use heavy pH soap.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
