Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old male who recently quit smoking about a month and a half ago. While I was not a heavy smoker, I did smoke regularly for over a decade.

Since quitting, I have noticed some weight loss and have been experiencing flu-like symptoms for over a month. Initially, I had a cold and took over-the-counter medications, which helped alleviate those symptoms. But now I am dealing with persistent flu-like symptoms. These include issues with my paranasal sinuses, post-nasal drip, a constant cough, and difficulty sleeping at night.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I am sorry to hear about your medical condition. Based on your symptoms, I believe you may be experiencing upper airway cough syndrome, likely triggered by either flu or exposure to cigarette smoke. To address this, I recommend the following treatment plan:

  1. Acetaminophen 500 mg: Take two tablets orally three times a day for five days.

  2. Vitamin C 1000 IU: Take two tablets orally twice a day for two weeks.

  3. Metronidazole 400 mg: Take two tablets orally three times a day for one week.

  4. Co-Amoxiclav 625 mg (Augmentin): Take one capsule orally twice a day for 14 days. Consult a doctor and take the medicine accordingly.

If your symptoms persist, please schedule another appointment for follow-up either via chat, phone, or video consultation. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
